It has also played a catalytic role in the development narrative of the region by  proactively carrying the development messages particularly in the areas of health, education, agriculture , skill development, micro financing, rural development ,  child and women development, governance issues etc.

During this long journey of 50 glorious years, AIR Kaliburgi has many  unique , noteworthy trendsetting broadcasting achievements and has earned many accolades both at state and national levels.
Keli-Kali (Listen and Learn) a series  conceptualized and developed based on the academic syllabus for primary school children was appreciated and adapted for the state wide broadcast by the department of Education, Govt of Karnataka. This concept was subsequently adapted by Sarva Shikshan Abhiyaan at the National Level.

This apparently contributed for the increased total revenue earnings.
On technical front AIR, Gulbarga was the first to impress upon the need for establishing VPN network for the state of Karnataka, when the decommissioning of S-Band Frequency resulted in chaos. For the first time in the history of All India Radio, a VPN link was tested successfully between AIR, Bengaluru and Gulbarga. Further, all the stations in Karnataka were networked through VPN, enabling a quickest means of audio/data file transfer and it has become a cost effective technological approach for the purpose. This project  was awarded a prize for technical excellence at the Akashvani Annual Award competition. Similarly, an award for ‘Best maintained difficult station’ was bagged by the station at National level.
As regards commercial revenue, AIR Gulbarga is proud to earn more than 200% of the target fixed for 2016-17. Artists of AIR Gulbarga  are regularly  featured in the National Programme of Music, Regional Folk and Light Music Programme and other National Programmes.
