rightly said the radio serves as an accompaniment to the rhythms of daily life.
Over the years, AIR has been preserving, in its
archives for posterity, choicest fare of devotional, classical and Carnatic music
over the years. This treasure trove of AIR has many precious nuggets which AIR
brings out through CDs to help the common man to sing, meditate and, imbibe the
values that every religion preaches.
All India Radio got the opportunity to record,
broadcast and preserve the renditions of all the major musicians over a period
of time. Today it has a rich repertoire of Indian Classical Music, both in
Hindustani and Carnatic. Since April 2003, AIR Archives has started releasing

Khan, Ramcharitra Manas and Bharat Ek Khoj (a 53-episode television series that
dramatically unfolds the 5000-year history of India, from its beginnings to the
coming of Indian Independence in 1947). Akashvani has become one
of the major digital libraries in the broadcasting network with internationally
accepted norms.
