AIR Bhaderwah, RR holds Multilingual Musharia to mark Independence Day Celebration

Around fifteen renowned poets of Doda district presented their rich poetic works in praise of nation here at a multilingual literary meet jointly organized by All India Radio, Bhaderwah and 4th Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) as part of the 69th Independence Day Celebration.

The poets received huge applaud from a jam packed elite audience for the poems presented in Kashmiri, Bhaderwahi, Urdu, Siraji and Goojri highlighting the sacrifices given by the national heroes to secure freedom from the foreign rulers. The poetic works recited by the poets also threw light on the underlining spirit of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony that gave much strength to the freedom movement and evolving a strong democratic India in the Post-independence era.

The poets through their inspiring poems called upon the people to shun differences and work jointly towards common cause of evolving a society based on justice, equality, common good and democratic principles, The poets also emphasized the need to fight against the confrontationist forces, corruption and other social evils which have been eating up the vitals of the society and nation as a whole. The programme was held seminar hall of 50 years old premier educational institutional of Bhaderwah town Boys Hr. Sec. School, Bhaderwah.

The programme was attended by civil society members of all communities’ the prominent those who were present at the Multilingual literary meet included Rector Jammu University Bhaderwah Campus, Lt Col 4RR (BIHAR) Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bhaderwah, SP Bhaderwah. The programme was highly appreciated by civil society of Bhaderwah and people suggested to hold such events on regular basis.

In a country like India, public service broadcasters like All India Radio and Doordarshan play a critical role in ensuring the unity of diverse communities, Prasar Bharati Chairman P Surya Prakash said today.

"Many people ask me do we need a public service broadcaster? I say, of course we do. In a country as diverse as ours, with the given complexities, social and economic and so on, I think the public service broadcaster plays a very critical role in ensuring the unity of such a diverse community as we have in India," Prakash said.

He was speaking at the 40th Annual Day celebrations of Doordarshan Kendra, Chennai, here.

Claiming that the All India Radio and Doordarshan through its sustained campaign on polio managed to get rid of the disease from the country, he said, "Through our radio and television, every 10 minutes you get this message asking people to take the little babies to the nearest primary centres for polio drops. I cite this as an example of what a public service broadcaster can do in any country."

"Similarly, we in Prasar Bharati are committed to other programmes some of which has been launched by the Prime Minister in the last year or so.

"One of them is Swachh Bharat. About 70 per cent of households in India do not have toilets. You can well imagine what the implications are to the dignity of individuals especially women and security of women. But today given the government's commitment and sustained campaign on All India Radio and Doordarshan, I feel confident that most Indian homes will have toilets in the next 5-7 years," he said.

"I think this happened because All India Radio and Doordarshan are out there to take that message to the last man," he said.

State Governor K Rosaiah said, "The growing competition in media world has paved the way for adopting new technologies to step up their telecast and to make quality programmes to make more and more people to view their channels."

"What is worrying is that we see some TV channels deviating from their path. For the sake of entertainment, they bring about programmes which are of poor quality and that cannot be seen with family," he said.

"There is also a deviation from moral and cultural values. Such programmes have a negative influence on society and in the long run they will deviate the people from the right path," he said.

Obituary--R K Nema ADG(NZ) passed away this morning due to Heart Attack

The untimely demise of one of the AIR’s ace technocrats comes to us as a thunderbolt. The void caused by the sudden death of Shri. R.K. Nema, Additional Director General, North-Zone, is hard to fill. Akashvani family is with Shri. Nema’s family in this hour of agony and bereavement.       

R K Nema ADG(NZ) passed away this morning due to Heart Attack. Shri R K Nema ADG (E)(NZ), All India Radio and Doordarshan, Delhi passed away this morning (07.08.2015) at an age of 57 years due to Heart Attack at Delhi. Shri R K Nema was an IBES officer, who had served at AIR Mumbai, AIR Ambikapur, Akashvani Chhindawara, Akashvani Shahdol, Akashvani Raipur and Akashvani Jabalpur before being elevated to the post of Additional Director General(E) and posted at Delhi. Shri R K Nema was an extremely able, soft spoken and upright officer with high degree of administrative and legal knowledge. Shri Nema has left behind him his wife and two sons.

FM Radio and the RJ culture

        Resurgence of Radio way back in the 90s was largely due to FM radio.  FM radio took its first faltering steps in 1977 when AIR started the first FM channel on its Chennai station.  What really brought FM to the centre stage was the introduction of round-the-clock stereo FM service by AIR and the experiment in limited deregulation by leasing out slots to private players at the four metros and later on AIR, Panaji in 1993 and 1994.  This experiment in a way is a precursor to the Government policy of issuing licenses to private parties to set up FM stations in the country.  Today, there are around 250 FM channels in the private domain, in addition to 23 FM Rainbow and 5 FM Gold channels of All India Radio.  There are many more private channels in the pipeline.  The city dwellers, craving for infotainment, were captivated by FM.  Indeed listening to FM became the fashion of the day especially with the youth.  With the proliferation of the inexpensive FM receivers, car radios and mobile devices, FM received tremendous impetus and has become a major money-spinner through advertising revenue. 

            FM brought in the radio jockey culture.  Listener-friendly programming tailored to the tastes with perky presentation by young radio jockeys and presenters full of verve and vivacity caught the imagination of audiences everywhere.  All India Radio, as the pioneer in FM broadcasting, has the privilege of grooming several radio jockeys who have become household names in different parts of India.  Even before the advent of FM, AIR has been using stock characters for compering its programmes for children, women and rural folk/farmers.  With their ability to communicate in the local dialect and idiom, they could establish instant rapport with the target audiences and enjoyed their trust. 

            To meet the manpower requirements of sudden and rapid expansion of AIR’s network including its Rainbow/Gold channels, AIR has been engaging announcers, radio jockeys and anchors on casual assignment basis subject to exigencies.  Some of the on-air personalities, with their captivating style and panache, became youth icons enjoying huge fan following.   Their success is a matter to rejoice for AIR which has scouted and nurtured such talent.  But then, as they say, it takes all sorts to make a world.  Some misguided RJs of FM Rainbow and FM Gold have started an orchestrated and vicious campaign to tarnish the image of AIR, spreading a canard to mislead the public at large.  They did not hesitate even to besmirch reputation of their supervising officers with wild innuendoes and insinuations with utter disregard for canons of decency and decorum.    

  

            In their latest complaint, they have talked about an undertaking which they were required to submit if they are on the panel of multichannel stations of AIR.  As there is abundant talent, AIR has been able to empanel a large number of them from time to time.  To bring in variety, AIR does not allow more than six bookings/assignments in a month or 72 in a year.  This limit is strictly adhered to all over the vast AIR network, including FM Rainbow/FM Gold.  But it has come to the notice of AIR that some casual presenters at multichannel stations of AIR were shifting from one channel to another in a deliberate and surreptitious attempt to exceed this limit.  Prominent among the multichannel stations of AIR is the set-up in Delhi with its Rajdhani, Indraprastha, Vividh Bharati, FM Rainbow and FM Gold channels, apart from channels of ESD, GOS in particular, National Channel of AIR, Urdu Service of AIR etc.  AIR has devised an undertaking to arrest this trend.  Some casual announcers/RJs are peeved about submission of such an undertaking as they have been managing on the sly to satisfy their rapacity at the expense of AIR’s established norms. 

            RJs are not repeat NOT on the establishment of All India Radio.  And each panel of casual RJs is subject to review so that in a fiercely competitive market, AIR is able to compete and fulfill its mandate.  This temporary panel is similar to the ones we have in respect of comperes, drama voices, singers, composers, instrumentalists, field investigators for Audience Research and part-time Correspondents.  One voice in one area in perpetuity tends to sound stale and monotonous, weaning away the public as well as the advertisers.  In a nutshell, AIR cannot but review its panel on definite frequencies to retain the best and take those who lost their sheen off the air.

AIR has some time-honoured conventions and established practices.  As far as programme presentation is concerned, announcers, RJs and anchors do have the liberty to embellish their shows but AIR does not encourage loud or crass style to helm their programming.  The station managers are alert to ensure that no RJ goes overboard.    

AIR will be happy if the RJs on its panel emerge as channel drivers by sheer dint of their on-air performance, winning adulation and applause from the listening public.  Such jockeys/presenters will always be an ornament on our head but we are wary of those who underperform or vitiate the atmosphere.   Let them not indulge in sullying the image and reputation    -    as a handful few of them are wont to do    -    of the very organization which they have the privilege to work for.  Such tactics are unbecoming of true broadcast professionals. AIR is duty-bound to safeguard its regulations in the professional interests of the Organization which under no circumstances will be compromised.

मेरे प्यारे देशवासियो, नमस्कार ! इस वर्ष बारिश की अच्छी शुरुआत हुई है | हमारे किसान भाईयों, बहनों को खरी की बुआई करने में अवश्य मदद मिलेगी | और एक ख़ुशी की बात मेरे ध्यान में आयेगी और मुझे बड़ा आनंद हुआ | हमारे देश में दलहन की और तिलहन की, पल्सिस की और ऑयलसीड्स की बहुत कमी रहती है | ग़रीब को दलहन चाहिये, खाने के लिये सब्ज़ी वगैरह में थोड़ा तेल भी चाहिये | मेरे लिये ख़ुशी की बात है कि इस बार जो उगाई हुई है, उसमें दलहन में क़रीब-क़रीब 50 प्रतिशत वृद्धि हुई है | और तिलहन में क़रीब-क़रीब 33 प्रतिशत वृद्धि हुई है | मेरे किसान भाई-बहनों को इसलिए सविशेष बधाई देता हूँ, उनका बहुत अभिनन्दन करता हूँ | 

मेरे प्यारे देशवासियो, 26 जुलाई, हमारे देश के इतिहास में करगिल विजय दिवस के रूप में अंकित है | देश के किसान का नाता, ज़मीन से जितना है, उतना ही देश के जवान का भी है | करगिल युद्ध में, हमारा एक-एक जवान, सौ-सौ दुश्मनों पर भारी पड़ा | अपने प्राणों की परवाह न करके, दुश्मनों की कोशिशों को नाकाम करने वाले उन वीर सैनिकों को शत-शत नमन करता हूँ | करगिल का युद्ध केवल सीमाओं पर नहीं लड़ा गया,  भारत के हर शहर, हर गाँव में, इस युद्ध में योगदान था | ये युद्ध, उन माताओं, उन बहनों के लिए लड़ा, जिनका जवान बेटा या भाई, करगिल में दुश्मनों से लड़ रहा था | उन बेटियों ने लड़ा, जिनके हाथों से अभी, पीहर की मेहंदी नहीं उतरी थी | पिता ने लड़ा, जो अपने जवान बेटों को देखकर, ख़ुद को जवान महसूस करता था | और उस बेटे ने लड़ा, जिसने अभी अपने पिता की उंगली पकड़कर चलना भी नहीं सीखा था | इनके बलिदान के कारण ही आज भारत दुनियां में सर उठाकर बात कर पाता है | और इसलिए, आज करगिल विजय दिवस पर इन सभी हमारे सेनानियों को मेरा शत-शत प्रणाम | 

26 जुलाई, एक और दृष्टि से भी मैं ज़रा महत्वपूर्ण मानता हूँ, क्योंकि, 2014 में हमारी सरकार बनने के बाद, कुछ ही महीनों में 26 जुलाई को हमनें MY GOV को प्रारंभ किया था | लोकतंत्र में जन-भागीदारी बढ़ाने का हमारा संकल्प, जन-जन को विकास के कार्य में जोड़ना, और मुझे आज एक साल के बाद यह कहते हुए यह ख़ुशी है, क़रीब दो करोड़ लोगों ने MY GOV  को देखा | क़रीब-क़रीब साढ़े पांच लाख लोगों ने कमेंट्स किये, और सबसे ज्यादा खुशी की बात तो ये है कि पचास हजार से ज़्यादा लोगों ने पीएमओ ऐप्लीकेशन्स पर सुझाव दिए, उन्होंने समय निकाला | माइंड अप्लाई किया | इस काम को महत्वपूर्ण  माना | और कैसे महत्वपूर्ण सुझाव आये, कानपुर से अखिलेश वाजपेयी जी ने एक अच्छा सुझाव भेजा था कि विकलांग व्यक्तियों को रेलवे के अंदर IRCTC website  के माध्यम से कोटा वाला टिकट क्यों नहीं दिया जाना चाहिये | अगर विकलांग को भी टिकट पाने के लिए वही कठिनाइयां झेलनी पड़ें कितना उचित है ? अब यूं तो बात छोटी है, लेकिन न कभी सरकार में किसी को ये ध्यान आया, न कभी इस पर सोचा गया | लेकिन भाई अखिलेश वाजपेयी के सुझाव पर सरकार ने गंभीरता से विचार किया, और आज हमारे विकलांग भाइयों-बहनों के लिए, इस व्यवस्था को लागू कर दिया गया | आज जो लोगो बनते हैं, टैग-लाइन बनते हैं, कार्यक्रम की रचना होती है, पॉलिसी बनती है, MY GOV पर बहुत ही सकारात्मक सुझाव आते हैं | शासन व्यवस्था में एक नयी fresh air का अनुभव होता है | एक नई चेतना का अनुभव होता है | 

इन दिनों मुझे MY GOV पर ये भी सुझाव आने लगे हैं, कि मुझे 15 अगस्त को क्या बोलना चाहिये | चेन्नई से सुचित्रा राघवचारी, उन्होंने काफ़ी कुछ सुझाव भेजे हैं | बेटी-बचाओ, बेटी-पढ़ाओ पर बोलिये, क्लीन गंगा पर बोलिये, स्वच्छ भारत पर बोलिए |  लेकिन इससे मुझे एक विचार आया, क्या इस बार 15 अगस्त को मुझे क्या बोलना चाहिये | क्या आप मुझे सुझाव भेज सकते हैं ? MY GOV पर भेज सकते हैं, आकाशवाणी पर चिठ्ठी लिख सकते हैं | प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में चिठ्ठी लिख सकते हैं | देखें ! मैं मानता हूँ, शायद ये एक अच्छा विचार है कि 15 अगस्त के मेरे भाषण को, जनता जनार्दन से सुझाव लिए जायें | मुझे विश्वास है कि आप ज़रुर अच्छे सुझाव भेजेंगे | 

एक बात की ओर मैं अपनी चिंता जताना चाहता हूँ, मैं कोई उपदेश नहीं देना चाहता हूँ और न ही मैं राज्य सरकार, केंद्र सरकार या स्थानीय स्वराज की संस्थाओं की इकाइयों की ज़िम्मेवारियों से बचने का रास्ता खोज रहा हूँ | अभी दो दिन पहले, दिल्ली की एक दुर्घटना के दृश्य पर मेरी नज़र पड़ी | और दुर्घटना के बाद वो स्कूटर चालक 10 मिनट तक तड़पता रहा | उसे कोई मदद नहीं मिली | वैसे भी मैंने देखा है कि मुझे कई लोग लगातार इस बात पर लिखते रहते हैं कि आप रोड सेफ्टी पर कुछ बोलिये | लोगों को सचेत कीजिये | बेंगलूरु के होशाकोटे अक्षय हों, पुणे के अमेय जोशी हों, कर्नाटक के मुरबिदरी के प्रसन्ना काकुंजे हों | इन सबने, यानि काफ़ी लोगों के हैं नाम, मैं सबके नाम तो नहीं बता रहा हूँ, इस विषय पर चिंता जताई है और कहा है आप सबकी चिंता सही है | और जब आंकड़ों की तरफ़ देखते हैं तो हृदय हिल जाता है | हमारे देश में हर मिनट एक दुर्घटना होती है | दुर्घटना के कारण, रोड ऐक्सीडेंट के कारण, हर 4 मिनट में एक मृत्यु होती है | और सबसे बड़ी चिंता का विषय ये भी है, क़रीब-क़रीब एक तिहाई मरने वालों में 15 से 25 साल की उम्र के नौजवान होते हैं और एक मृत्यु पूरे परिवार को हिला देती है | शासन को तो जो काम करने चाहिये वो करने ही चाहिए, लेकिन मैं माँ-बाप से गुज़ारिश करता हूँ, अपने बच्चों को चाहे टू-व्हीलर चलाते हों या फ़ोर-व्हीलर चलाते हों, सेफ्टी की जितनी बातें है, उस पर ज़रूर ध्यान देने का माहौल परिवार में भी बनाना चाहिए | कभी-कभी हम ऑटो-रिक्शा पर देखते हैं, पीछे लिखा होता है ‘पापा जल्दी घर आ जाना’, पढते हैं तो कितना टचिंग लगता है, और इसलिए मैं कहता हूँ, ये बात सही है कि सरकार ने इस दिशा में काफ़ी नये इनिशियेटिव लिये हैं... रोड सेफ्टी के लिए चाहे एजुकेशन का मामला हो, रोड की रचना का इंजीनियरिंग हो, क़ानून को एन्फोर्स करने की बात हो, या ऐक्सीडेंट के बाद घायल लोगों को इमरजेंसी केयर की बात हो, इन सारी बातों को ध्यान में रखते हुए रोड, ट्रांसपोर्ट एंड सेफ्टी बिल हम लाने जा रहे हैं | आने वाले दिनों में नैशनल रोड सेफ्टी पॉलिसी और रोड सेफ्टी ऐक्शन प्लान का इम्प्लिमेंटेशन करने की दिशा में भी हम कई महत्वपूर्ण क़दम उठाने के लिए सोच रहे हैं | एक और प्रोजेक्ट हम लिए है, आगे चलकर इसका विस्तार भी होने वाला है, कैशलेस ट्रीटमेंट... गुडगाँव, जयपुर और वड़ोदरा... वहाँ से लेकर के मुंबई, राँची, रणगाँव, मौंडिया राजमार्गों के लिए, हम एक कैशलेस ट्रीटमेंट... और उसका अर्थ है कि पहले पचास घंटे... पैसे हैं कि नहीं, पैसे कौन देगा, कौन नहीं देगा, इन सारी चिंता छोड़कर के, एक बार रोड एक्सीडेंट में जो घायल है, उसको उत्तम से उत्तम सेवा कैसे मिले, सारवार कैसे मिले, उसको हम प्राथमिकता दे रहे हैं | देशभर में हादसों के संबंध में जानकारी देने के लिए टोल-फ्री 1033 नंबर, ऐम्बुलेंस की व्यवस्था, ये सारी बातें... लेकिन ये सारी चीज़ें  ऐक्सीडेंट के बाद की हैं | ऐक्सीडेंट न हो इसके लिए तो हम सबने सचमुच में... एक-एक जान बहुत प्यारी होती है, एक-एक जीवन बहुत प्यारा होता है, उस रूप में उसको देखने की आवश्यकता है | कभी-कभी मैं कहता हूँ, कर्मचारी कर्मयोगी बनें | 

पिछले दिनों कुछ घटनाएं मेरे ध्यान में आई, मुझे अच्छा लगा कि मैं आपसे बात करूँ, कभी-कभार नौकरी करते-करते इंसान थक जाता है, और कुछ सालों की बात तो ठीक है, तनख़्वाह मिल जाती है, काम कर लेंगे, यही भाव होता है | लेकिन मुझे पिछले दिनों, रेलवे के कर्मचारी के विषय में एक जानकारी मिली, नागपुर डिवीज़न में विजय बिस्वाल करके एक टी.टी.ई. हैं, अब उनको पेंटिंग का शौक़ है, अब वो कहीं पर भी जाके पेंटिंग कर सकते थे, लेकिन उन्होंने रेलवे को ही अपना आराध्य माना और वे रेलवे में नौकरी करते हैं और रेलवे के ही संबंधित भिन्न-भिन्न दृश्यों का पेंटिंग करते रहते हैं, उनको एक आनंद भी मिलता है और उस काम के अंदर इतनी रूचि बढ़ जाती है | मुझे बड़ा ये उदाहरण देख कर के अच्छा लगा कि अपने काम में भी कैसे प्राणतत्व लाया जा सकता है | अपनी रूचि, अपनी कला, अपनी क्षमता को अपने कार्य के साथ कैसे जोड़ा जा सकता है ये विजय बिस्वाल ने बताया है | हो सकता है अब विजय बिस्वाल के पेंटिंग की चर्चा आने वाले दिनों में ज़रुर होगी | और भी मेरे ध्यान में एक बात आई... मध्य प्रदेश के हरदा ज़िले के सरकारी अधिकारियों की पूरी टीम, पूरी टोली ने एक ऐसा काम शुरू किया जो मेरे मन को छू गया और मुझे बहुत पसंद है उनका ये काम I उन्होंने शुरू किया ऑपरेशन मलयुद्ध, अब ये कोई, इसका सुनते हुए लगेगा कुछ और ही बात होगी I लेकिन मूल बात ये है उन्होंने स्वच्छ भारत अभियान को नया मोड़ दिया है और उन्होंने पूरे ज़िले में एक अभियान चलाया है ‘ब्रदर नंबर वन’, यानि वो सबसे उत्तम भाई जो अपनी बहन को रक्षाबंधन पर एक टॉयलेट भेंट करे, और उन्होंने बीड़ा उठाया है कि ऐसे सभी भाइयों को प्रेरित करके उनकी बहनों को टॉयलेट देंगे और पूरे ज़िले में खुले में कहीं माताओं-बहनों को शौच ना जाना पड़े, ये काम रक्षाबंधन के पर्व पर वो कर रहे हैं I देखिये रक्षाबंधन का अर्थ कैसा बदल गया, मैं हरदा ज़िले के सरकारी अधिकारियों की पूरी टीम को बहुत-बहुत बधाई देता हूँ I 

अभी एक समाचार मेरे कान पे आये थे, कभी-कभी ये छोटी-छोटी चीज़ें बहुत मेरे मन को आनंद देती हैं I इसलिए मैं आपसे शेयर कर रहा हूँ I छत्तीसगढ़ के राजनंदगाँव में केश्ला करके एक छोटा सा गाँव है | उस गाँव के लोगों ने पिछले कुछ महीनों से कोशिश करके टॉयलेट बनाने का अभियान चलाया | और अब उस गाँव में किसी भी व्यक्ति को खुले में शौच नहीं जाना पड़ता है I ये तो उन्होंने किया, लेकिन, जब पूरा काम पूरा हुआ तो पूरे गाँव ने जैसे कोई बहुत बड़ा उत्सव मनाया जाता है वैसा उत्सव मनाया I गाँव ने ये सिद्धि प्राप्त की I केश्ला गाँव समस्त ने मिल कर के एक बहुत बड़ा आनंदोत्सव मनाया I समाज जीवन में मूल्य कैसे बदल रहे हैं, जन-मन कैसे बदल रहा है और देश का नागरिक देश को कैसे आगे ले जा रहा है इसके ये उत्तम उदाहरण मेरे सामने आ रहे हैं I मुझे भावेश डेका, गुवाहाटी से लिख रहे हैं, नॉर्थ-ईस्ट के सवालों के संबंध में I वैसे   नॉर्थ-ईस्ट के लोग ऐक्टिव भी बहुत हैं | वो काफ़ी कुछ लिखते रहते हैं, अच्छी बात है I लेकिन मैं आज ख़ुशी से उनको कहना चाहता हूँ कि नॉर्थ-ईस्ट के लिए एक अलग मिनिस्ट्री बनी हुई है |  जब अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी जी प्रधानमंत्री थे तब एक डोनर मिनिस्ट्री बनी थी ‘डेवलपमेंट ऑफ़ नॉर्थ-ईस्ट रीजन’ I हमारी सरकार बनने के बाद, हमारे डोनर डिपार्टमेंट में बड़ा महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय किया है कि नॉर्थ-ईस्ट का भला दिल्ली में बैठ कर के हो जाएगा क्या ? और सबने मिल कर के तय किया कि भारत सरकार के अधिकारियों की टीम नॉर्थ-ईस्ट के उन राज्यों में जाएगी... नागालैंड हो, मणिपुर हो, अरुणाचल हो, त्रिपुरा हो, असम हो, सिक्किम हो और सात दिन वहाँ कैंप करेंगे I ज़िलों में जायेंगे, गांवों में जायेंगे, वहां के स्थानीय सरकार के अधिकारियों से मिलेंगे, जनप्रतिनिधियों से बातें करेंगे, नागरिकों से बातें करेंगे I समस्याओं को सुनेंगे, समस्याओं का समाधान करने की दिशा में भारत सरकार को जो करना है, उसको भी करेंगे I ये प्रयास आने वाले दिनों में बहुत अच्छे परिणाम लाएगा I और जो अधिकारी जा कर के आते हैं, उनको भी लगता है कितना सुंदर प्रदेश, कितने अच्छे लोग, अब इस इलाक़े को विकसित करके ही रहना है, उनकी समस्याओं का समाधान करके ही रहना है | इस संकल्प के साथ लौटते हैं तो दिल्ली आने के बाद भी अब उनको वहाँ की समस्याओं को समझना भी बहुत सरल हो गया है I तो एक अच्छा प्रयास, दिल्ली से दूर-दूर पूरब तक जाने का प्रयास, जो मैं ‘ऐक्ट ईस्ट पॉलिसी’ कह रहा हूँ ना, यही तो ऐक्ट है I 

मेरे प्यारे देशवासियो, हम सब इस बात के लिए गर्व करते हैं कि ‘मार्स मिशन’ की सफलता का हमें आनंद होता है I अभी पिछले दिनों भारत के पी.एस.एल.वी. सी-28 ने यू.के. के पाँच सैटेलाइट लॉन्च किये I भारत ने अब तक लॉन्च किये हुए उन सबसे ज़्यादा हेवीवेट सैटेलाइट लॉन्च किये हैं I ये ख़बर ऐसी होती है कि कुछ पल के लिए आती है, चली जाती है, इस पर हमारा ध्यान नहीं जाता | लेकिन ये बहुत बड़ा अचीवमेंट है I लेकिन कभी-कभी ये भी विचार आता है, आज हम युवा पीढ़ी से अगर बात करते हैं और उनको पूछें कि आप आगे क्या बनना चाहते हो, तो 100 में से बड़ी मुश्किल से एक-आध कोई स्टूडंट मिल जाएगा जो ये कहेगा कि मुझे साइंटिस्ट बनना है I साइंस के प्रति रुझान कम होना ये बहुत चिंता का विषय है I

साइंस ऐंड टेक्नोलॉजी एक प्रकार से विकास का डी.एन.ए. है |  हमारी नई पीढ़ी साइंटिस्ट बनने के सपने देखे, रिसर्च इनोवेशन में रूचि ले, उनको प्रोत्साहन मिले, उनकी क्षमताओं को जाना जाये, एक बहुत बड़ी आवश्यकता है | अभी भारत सरकार के मानव संसाधन मंत्रालय ने एक राष्ट्रीय आविष्कार अभियान शुरू किया है | हमारे राष्ट्र के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति डॉ. कलाम जी ने इसका आरम्भ किया है | इस अभियान के तहत आई.आई.टी., एन.आई.टी., सेंट्रल और स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटीज़ एक मेंटर के तौर पर, जहां-जहां इस प्रकार की संभावनाएं हैं, वहां उन बालकों को प्रोत्साहित करना, उनको मार्गदर्शन करना, उनको मदद करना, उस पर ध्यान केन्द्रित करने वाले हैं | मैं तो सरकार के आई.ए.एस. अफसरों को भी कहता रहता हूँ कि आप इतना पढ़ लिखकर आगे बढ़े हो तो आप भी तो कभी सप्ताह में दो चार घंटे अपने नज़दीक के किसी स्कूल-कॉलेज में जा करके बच्चों से ज़रुर बात कीजिये | आपका जो अनुभव है, आपकी जो शक्ति है वो ज़रुर इस नई पीढ़ी के काम आयेगी | हमने एक बहुत बड़ा बीड़ा उठाया हुआ है, क्या हमारे देश के गाँवों को 24 घंटे बिजली मिलनी चाहिये कि नहीं मिलनी चाहिये ? काम कठिन है, लेकिन करना है | हमने इसका शुभारम्भ कर दिया है | और आने वाले वर्षों में, हम गाँवों को 24 घंटे बिजली प्राप्त हो | गाँव के बच्चों को भी, परीक्षा के दिनों में पढ़ना हो तो बिजली की तकलीफ़ न हो |  गाँव में भी छोटे-मोटे उद्योग लगाने हों तो बिजली प्राप्त हो | आज तो मोबाइल चार्ज करना हो तो भी दूसरे गाँव जाना पड़ता है |  जो लाभ शहरों को मिलता है वो गांवों को मिलना चाहिये | ग़रीब के घर तक जाना चाहिये | और इसीलिये हमने प्रारंभ किया है ‘दीनदयाल उपाध्याय ग्राम ज्योति कार्यक्रम’ | 

   मैं जानता हूँ इतना बड़ा देश, लाखों गाँव, दूर-दूर तक पहुँचना है, घर-घर पहुँचना है | लेकिन, ग़रीब के लिए ही तो दौड़ना है | हम इसको करेंगे, आरम्भ कर दिया है | ज़रुर करेंगे | आज मन की बात में भांति-भांति की बातें करने का मन कर गया | एक प्रकार से हमारे देश में अगस्त महीना, सितम्बर महीना, त्योहारों का ही अवसर रहता है | ढेर सारे त्यौहार रहते हैं | मेरी आप सबको बहुत-बहुत शुभकामनाएं | 15 अगस्त के लिए मुझे ज़रुर सुझाव भेजिये | आपके विचार मेरे बहुत काम आयेंगे | बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद |

"Radio---harbinger of new hope and life".

"With the advent of efficient broadcasting - there is nothing to prevent, in time, the farthest confines of Kashmir, Sikkim or Travancore simultaneously receiving the news of the moment. Although by composition, ours is a commercial company, it is the earnest desire of the Board of Directors to do broadcasting in a spirit of public service.", said Sir Ibrahim Rahimtoola, Chairman of the Indian Broadcasting Company.

It was in June 1923, that the very first radio programme in India was broadcast by the Radio Club of Bombay (Mumbai) and then in November, 1923 from Calcutta (Kolkata). These radio broadcasts were made with the efforts of amateurs, later followed by private enterprise. 

This was the beginning, of a medium, which was to connect the country through electric waves and eventually contribute greatly in creating new India in new world order!

Finally, organised broadcasting in India began when the first station of the Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC) was inaugurated at Bombay by the British Viceroy of India, Lord Irwin on July 23, 1927. Though it gained a lot of popularity, but the Indian Broadcasting Company went into premature liquidation from March 1, 1930. Eventually, from April 1930, broadcasting in India came under the direct control of the Government.

In September 1935, broadcasting began in the princely State of Mysore with the name AKASHVANI. The name All India Radio was adopted from June 08, 1936 and the Delhi Station of the Indian State Broadcasting Service went on air on January 01, 1936 from the temporary studios at 18, Alipur Road.

Dr. Gopalaswamy Professor of Psychology at the Mysore University had set up a 30 Watt transmitter at his house to air the first broadcast in the year 1935. By the end of 1932 when the BBC started its Empire Service, the number of receivers in India was 8557. It increased to 10,872 by the end of 1933 & 16,000 by the end of 1934. Today, AIR covers 99.19% of total Indian population. It Broadcasts via DTH, live streams several AIR channels and updates through various social networking platforms.

As part of mission of Prasar Bharati, the National Broadcaster, AIR is organizing a Tribal Folk Music Competition “ADI-SWAR” to promote tribal’s cultural heritage of India. Promoting this tribal competition, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, has congratulated and applauded AIR’s effort in this direction, a step to revive the hidden cultural traditions of Tribals.

In an interaction with the team members of ADI-SWAR the Union minister Sh. Jual Oram appealed to tribal communities of India to come out and participate in large numbers in this folk music competition. He said “tribals have written and unwritten long oral traditions and this competition will attract tribal people and other singers to come out in open and showcase their talent”. Expressing his personal enthusiasm towards this competition, the Hon’ble Minister stated that such initiatives are vital to preserve, protect and promote the deep rooted cultural heritage of our nation. Emphasizing on tribal’s vibrant culture, he also opined that tribals have musical songs for each and every occasion to celebrate life so this talent show will also provide an opportunity to discover the hidden talent of the nation. In the end, he also extended Ministry’s support in order to make this a successful event.

To showcase their musical talent through this free platform, participants particularly from the tribal community have to upload an audio clipping and mail to nchairmusic@gmail.com or send an audio CD of their singing performance to the Director, National Channel, Todapur, New Delhi – 110012 before 20/07/2015 without any restrictions imposed on their age, sex or economic status. This musical show is open to public and is entry-free. Entries can be either an individual based  performance or group based performance. As part of the policy of the Government of India in recent years to integrate the tribal people into the mainstream of the society, Public Service Broadcaster AIR through this initiative is striving to explore the untapped talent of tribal population across the country.

To select the best entries, a panel of eminent music personalities will judge the entries on the basis of Beat, Rhythm and Tone. In the first round, the entries will be shortlisted and those who succeed in the preliminary round will be invited to the studio of All India Radio for the semi final and then the successful contestants will perform in the Grand Finale in front of invited audiences. The contest rules have been kept easy and simple so that maximum number of people can participate in this extraordinary contest.

MORE CDs ON THE PIPELINE, says DG Sheheryar 

Lord Jagannath’s evergreen Bhakti Sangeets popularly known as Odia Bhajans will soon be mounted on You Tube for the listening of thousands of devotional music lovers all over the world. This unique initiative will be launched by the Public Service Broadcaster All India Radio soon. This was divulged by Sri F. Sheheryar, DG, AIR in Puri today. He said that AIR-Odia live streaming would be available very soon in the Internet as well as in the Mobile Apps. Sri Sheheryar, who is in Puri to witness the release of first tranche of Bhakti Sangeet CD made by All India Radio, has said that the oldest Public Broadcaster will cater to the needs of the millions of devotional music lovers all over the world. On the eve of Nabakalebara Rath Yatra the first tranche of Bhakti Sangeet (Bhajan)CD was released by Puri Gajapati Maharaja Sri Divya Singh Dev in the presence of senior officers of All India Radio on Thursday night.The CD contains 13 Bhakti Sangeets/Bhajans sang by late Vanikantha Nimaicharan Harichandan, Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Das, Singhari Shyam Sundar Kar, Bhikarichanran Bal, Pandit Suramani Raghunath Panigrahi, Akhyay Mohanty, Mohammad Sikandar Alam, Markandeya Mohapatra, Kashinath Pujapanda, Radhakrushna Bhanja, Shyamamani Devi, Snehalata Praharaj and Kalyani Bhattacharjee. These devotional songs of 1960s and 1970s were meticulously collected from the archives of All India Radio, Cuttack and released before Nabakalebar Rath Yatra to cater to the demands of Bhakti Sangeet lovers. DG Sri Sheheryar said more such Bhakti Sangeets collected from the archives of All India Radio in three CDs will be released soon.

AIR releases 3 volumes of Jagannath Bhajanavali as country gears for Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra

          It is a red letter day for the Central Archives of All India Radio as three volumes of Jagannath Bhajanavali rendered by renowned artistes of Odisha was released today by the Revered Gajapati Maharaja of Puri.

On this auspicious occasion, Shri S.C. Panda, Member (Personnel), Prasar Bharati , Sh. F. Sheheryar, Director General, All India Radio and Dr. (Smt.) Sudha Mishra, Deputy Director General (Archives) were present at the Maharaja’s Palace in Puri this evening.

During the first Nabakalebara mega event of the present millennium, the AIR Archives feels proud of airing mellifluous voices of those immortal celebrated artistes of Odisha who once had sung the most popular soulful and unique bhajanas five decades ago, dedicated to Parambrahma Lord Jagannath, titled as Shree Jagannath Bhajanavali comprising thirty bhajanas & jananas in three parts.
