Man enters Limca Book for 10th successive year for a bizarre feat

| Aravind Nilkant Navare (74) of Pune has done it again for the tenth successive year. His name has been included in the 2014 edition of Limca Book of Records for writing maximum number of letters about a radio programme.

Navare, a retired company secretary, was the first recognised company secretary out of 600 others in Pune. He has been working with 35 social, cultural and professional organisations including MCCIA, Maharashtra Granthottejak Sanstha which organises Vasant Vyakhyanmala, the spring lecture series, director of Pune stock exchange on behalf of Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). He was also the president of Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Western Region and Pune branch. Navare, after his retirement, has done Ph D in Corporate Governance when he was 72 years old. Navare’s son Ajit shifted to Mumbai for his job and could not listen to daily programme of ‘Chintan’, which he used to listen for years along with his parents. Navare decided to write down entire five minute programme of Chintan and send it to his son via post-card. Chintan is the programme about a noble thought, broadcast every morning at 5.55 am. It is aired on All India Radio Pune Centre (800 Meter on Medium Wave). Interestingly, Navare’s son Ajit while coming to Pune from Mumbai brought the letters send by his father and gave them to him. Arvind Navare started keeping a record of all the letters and now he has collection of all the letters in neatly prepared albums right from day 1 which is March 30, 2001. Navare said that on May 1, 2014 he penned 4444’th letter to his son Ajit. The Limca Book of Records mentions that he has penned 4113 letters till May 29, 2013 when Navare sent his entry for the inclusion in the 2014 book. Expressing his joy Navare said, “I am happy that my name is included this year too. I am even more happy because my son not only reads these noble thoughts but also prepares his own thoughts and sends back to me.” |
