AIR at Commonwealth Games,Glasgow


Living up to its tradition and commitment to listeners all over the country, All India has made elaborate arrangements for providing the exclusive and extensive Radio coverage to the ongoing 20th Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland. The Games were inaugurated on 23.07.2014 and AIR broadcast marathon live commentary on the colourful Opening Ceremony for three hours and forty minutes.
Also, the arrangements have been made for providing exclusive live radio commentary on all the India specific matches, semi finals and final matches on the Hockey event in both the men and women’s category. Besides, AIR would also have plans to provide exclusive live radio commentary on the identified Badminton matches, sprint finals in Athletics and Closing Ceremony of these Games.
To update the listeners of India’s performances in these Games on regular basis, periodic live updates during each day of competition are being broadcast on FM Rainbow. In addition to this whenever India gets a medal, instant broadcast is made in form of breaking News on AIR FM Rainbow and FM Gold channels.
 Apart from the live coverage, updates and flashing news of India’s medal winners, AIR is broadcasting India centric daily highlight capsules which contain reports, spot commentaries and interviews etc. to benefit those listeners who prefers to keep themselves updated in one shot. 
An innovative programme “Postcard from Glasgow” is also being broadcast, which primarily consists of side-stories, soft stories and other interesting trivia and happenings and anecdotes related to the city of Glasgow and the 20th Commonwealth Games.
Regional version of the both the programmes ‘Daily Highlights capsule” and Post Card from Glasgow” are also being broadcast on the same day by All India Radio.
AIR is also making its presence felt in a big way on the various platforms of ‘Social Media’ as far as these Games are concerned.
