India makes it to Quarter Finals in Hockey and Lawn Tennis!


After a gap of 36 years, Indian Hockey Team sealed their place in the quarter finals. The Country's hope rest high on mixed doubles pair Sania Mirza-Rohan Bopanna.

Badminton
Indian shuttlers had a mixed day as singles players Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth made a remarkable start to their campaign, but women's doubles duo Jwala Gutta-Ashwini Ponnappa and men's doubles pair Manu Attri-B Sumeeth Reddy lost their matches.



Tennis
India’s mixed doubles duo Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna started off with a win,defeating Sam Stosur and Jonathan Peers of Australia in straight sets.



Hockey
After 1980 Olympics, India made it to the Quarter Finals even after losing to Netherlands by 1-2. India is now on the third spot in the Pool B standings, with six points from four matches. Even if they lose against Canada in their last group match on Friday, they will make it to the last eight stage.


Golf
India's golfers Anirban Lahiri and SSP Chawrasia scored three-over 74 and 71 respectively in the opening round.


Archery
India's participation in women's archery events came to an end with the elimination of both Deepika Kumari and Bombayla Devi at the pre-quarterfinal stage.
